Troubles in Jurassic Park

When I talked with Grant while the land-cruiser is moving back to the safari lodge, suddenly, these cars stopped on the road beside the ocean, Tim saw the raptor in the supply ship that would reach Costa Rica in 18 Hours.

Grant was shocked and told them to call the control room telling them to call the supply ship. But they couldn't have contact with the Control Room. So we had to go back as soon as we could. But when Regis started the land-cruisers moving again, all the lights over the road went out. The land cruisers slowed and then stopped. Grant told Tim to stay in the vehicle.

Then, I saw Tim put on the night-vision goggles. When he saw everything around him with that goggle, he saw the tyrannosaur crushing the fence. The fence wasn’t electrified anymore!!!!!! That's gonna be a problem……

Regis was scared and he got out from the car and ran away. The T-Rex caught him, grabbed him and ate him!!!! He was dead!!!! When Grant tried to help the kids, I was going to help Grant by distracting the dinosaur. I made a good sacrifice. I was thrown by the dinosaur while Grant let the children out from the land-cruisers.

I felt bad with my body, and I was badly injured. I was taken to the control room and was told to take a rest.

After I woke up, I heard that the soldiers would come to the island to bomb the island. I felt peace. After that, Grant, the other person and I who saved were taken to the helicopter. And I heard that Hammond was killed by the compys. I was too tired to felt sorry about him, because like I say, he was stubborn and I don’t care anymore. The important thing was that I'm very grateful that I'm still alive!!!!!

The Tour of the Park

When the Land-cruisers were moving, the voice from the computer says, “Welcome to Jurassic Park”.

The first animal that we were going to see was the hypsilophodontids. But when the cruisers stopped, we couldn’t see anything because the hypsilophodontids were still hiding in the long grass. To call them out from the long grass, the loudspeaker on the fence made a trumpeting voice. The animals heard the voice and its head came up out of the grass one after the other.

Not just that animal that we saw in Jurassic Park, we saw dilophosaurs, triceratops, tyrannosaurus rex, velociraptors, sauropods, hadrosaurs, and stegosaurs. The dilophosaur spits poison at an animal to paralyze it and the animal couldn’t move so the dilophosaur can eat it

The triceratops had three horns on its head. The horns near their eyes were 2 m long. They had huge crests made of bone behind their heads. Triceratops couldn’t see very well and they weigh was about 6 tonnes each.

The head of the tyrannosaur was 6 m above the ground. It was huge and square, about 2 m long with red-brown skin. This animal had jaws and teeth. Wow, what a scary animals!!!

When we moved towards the south of the island, there was a man examining a huge animal. It was Dr. Harding examining a stegosaur. The stegosaur was sick. And they got sick every six weeks and Dr Harding couldn’t find out why. When Ellie looked at the animal’s eyes and tongue, she thought that it had been poisoned and it’s been eating the berries from the bushes that were poisonous.

The Land-Cruisers

Ed Regis took us to a road which came from a garage under the Control Centre. Immediately, two land-cruisers approached us with no drivers!! A loudspeaker on wall said that no more than four people in each tour vehicle.

Regis said that they’ve got 30 of those land-cruisers and they ran on electricity. He said that they also got two petrol vehicles, -Jeeps- which they could use if they had to, and there were some maintenance trucks which they kept about 2 km away. The Jeeps and trucks went on separate roads.

After that, Gennaro, another scientist, and I got into the first land-cruisers and Regis got into the second with Lex and Tim. We could talk to the Control Room by using a radio link and we could talk to the other land-cruiser by a walkie-talkie.

“The computer in each vehicle gives full information about everything in the park and the sensors in the park tell the main computer in the Control Room where the land-cruisers are. Then the main computer tells the computers in the land-cruisers what to tell you” Regis went on.

The land-cruisers slowly started moving and the tour started.

The Control Room

When we were back in the Control Room, we stared at all the computers and screen. Nedry was still working at his computer, not listening to us.
John Arnold sat down in front of a keyboard; next to him was a huge map on a piece of glass. The map showed the whole island. This computer was very awesome!!!! Arnold pressed a key on the keyboard and immediately there were lots of thin blue lines on the map. Arnold said that the blue lines show the movements of the young tyrannosaur for the last 24 hours, now it's in the south-east of the island, near the lake, whereas adult tyrannosaur is north-west of the lake. John Arnold said that he could show where all those 238 animals are. He pressed more keys and lots of dots with numbers next to them appeared on the screen.

When I ask that how accurate was that system, he answered that the dots shows us very accurately where an animal is and he also showed us what else that they could do. “This system makes sure that we can’t lose any animal. “There are sensors which detect movement and there are video cameras.” said John Arnold.

The computer not only just kept watches the animals, the computer counted all the animals in each species every 15 minutes and if an animal died, the computer would tell us in a few minutes. The computer showed the height of the dinosaurs too.

I’m worried, but I didn’t have my courage to say anything else.

When we left the control room, Gennaro spoke to me that it looks like a good and safe system to him. But I said things were already going wrong and that graph showed the heights of a normal group of animals, and it shouldn’t. This is not a normal place and those are not normal animals. Gennaro had no idea what I said, but I said to him, ‘You soon will.”

Isla Nublar's Dinosaurs

Soon we reach a door with a sign on it saying: EXTRACTIONS. Regis used his security card to enter that door. It was a very small room. Inside the room, there were microscopes and shelves full of yellow stones. There was a chief geneticist, Henry Wu and he knows all about the genetic engineering they do there. He said that he got the DNA from the amber. “Many millions of years ago, the sap from trees hardened and become fossilized. This hard substance is called amber” said Wu. So, the process of making dinosaur DNA is from that room. Wu was helped by Cray XMP supercomputers that match the DNA of dinosaurs. There were about three billion pieces in a whole DNA chain and it would take years for scientist to find all the pieces, but these computers only take several minutes to do this work and they remember lots of different types of DNA.

After that, Wu took us to a room with a sign on it saying: FERTILIZATION. Then he told them how the dinosaur embryos were put into special eggs and the temperature of the room. Wu said that he had to inject poison into the eggs and kill the animal if something goes wrong.

Then, he took us to a room with a sign on it saying: HATCHERY. The room was hot and there were rows and rows of lying eggs on shelves. Wu said that this place where the eggs hatch and become living dinosaurs.
Finally, he took us to nursery. The Nursery was a white room and there were lots of glass incubators. They looked like the incubators used for small babies in hospitals. There was a little animal. It was like a lizard, about 30 cm tall. Its skin was dark yellow with brown stripes. It had strong legs with a thick tail to stand up. I realized it was a young velociraptor, very friendly if it's a baby, but very deadly and aggressive if it's an adult.

The Workers in Jurassic Park

The whole island is controlled from the first floor of this building. There’s John Arnold, the chief engineer, Robert Muldoon, the park warden who looks after all the animals. Those guys are the most important men in Jurassic Park. The other important man is Dr. Harding who is the vet, and his job is to looking after a sick animal

Isla Nublar

Friday morning,Hammond’s plane landed at San Jose, the biggest city in Costa Rica. Then Grant, Ellie, Gennaro, Hammond and I got into a small helicopter to fly to Isla Nublar. The island was 160 km away. Another man got on the helicopter and joined us.His name was Dennis Nedry, he was fat and unfriendly. He said that he was a computer expert and hw was going to the island to sort out some bugs in the computer system

After 45 minutes, we saw an island. There were clouds and fog all round the island. It had steep sides and there were thick forests.

Hammond said that the island is about 12 km long and 5 km wide. The hills are about 600 m high at this end of the island. When our helicopter landed on top of one of the hills, the publicity manager named Ed Regis greeted us. I enjoyed my visit in Jurassic Park and the dinosaurs. John Hammond told us that the Safari Lodge was like his plans, but it isn’t like what that he said. The windows are all small and there are bars over them. The doors are made of metal and the roofs are made of metal bars too. The Safari Lodge was like a prison, whereas Hammond’s plans showed a hotel.
